His name might conjure visions of bleachers and football pitches, but Tyler Ballgame is more limelit crooner than jock. A Berklee College of Music dropout who found his way into the music world through a cover of Roy Orbison’s Crying, he frequently earns comparisons to that master of the romantic apocalypse, as well as the likes of Harry Nilsson and Elvis Presley, an “idealised frontman from the 60s and 70s”. He’s just released his debut album For The First Time Again, and describes his live shows as “a wheel of surrender”.
