“Bite down into life, swallow it down, and revel in that feeling,” say Montreal’s Ribbon Skirt. It’s excellent advice from the duo — Anishinaabe musician Tashiina Buswa and guitarist Billy Riley — who released their debut album, Bite Down, last year. Ribbon Skirt are named after a traditional Native American and First Nations garment that symbolises resilience and femininity, traits heard all the way through their propulsive, sexy spin on indie rock and post-punk.
