Named after a 3,500-year-old Cornish stone formation — one that looks a bit like a rocky doughnut sinking into the land — Mên-an-Tol in fact formed in a very different kind of location: a Camberwell pub. Nevertheless, frontman Bill Jefferson did grow up in Cornwall, and the folk-indie band borrows from the same Celtic musical tradition that birthed The Waterboys and The Pogues.
